Greetings all,

I have a charset issue.

I have a search field, which will be completed with the &form.search_value; once page is loaded, if first view will be empty etc.

When a user enters or etc all is ok.

When the user goes back to the first page, carrying around their earlier search value, the or is mangled to a utf8 interpretation. ie. ø

The pages used to process the form are all UTF8... as is the html declaration.

I wonder if this is URL restriction?

This is my solution when posting hidden variables to another form:
<recode from="utf8" to="latin1"><input type="hidden" name="search_value" value="&form.search_value;"></recode>

Anyone solved this before without having to recode?

Dunno if this will help but search for "automatic-charset-variable" in the Roxen docs.

(BTW: Roxen guys. When searching in your online docs the URL:s in the search result points into endless cyberspace, exmaple: https://extranet.roxen.com/support/docs/index.xml?magic_roxen_automatic_charset_variable=%E5%E4%F6%26%2333439%3B%40ISO-8859-1&query=automatic-charset-variable&submit=++Search++&db=customer-docs&type=and)

As far as I can tell you are on the right track with the automatic-charset-variable stuff. The link seems to work now.

I can add that we've changed the default charset in 5.0 from iso-8859-1 to utf-8 in query variables, so there will be a lot less need for <roxen-automatic-charset-variable>.

The link I posted works, but click on the results...

cool on the utf8 support.
I find that the <recode...> wrapping around hidden variables is the only way to avoid mangling of form widget variables.

In fact, if I use  <roxen-automatic-charset-variable/> it mangles any form widget with etc, in drop downs etc. weird and wonderful.

thx, it was nice to get so many responses.
