Hey all,

I was wondering what people think of a chat facility on planet roxen?
There is http://chat.roxen.com/chat/

But also there is a little project on the boil using psyc protocol. Is there any interest in helping to contribute to an inline or floating chat with the server protocol implemented for Roxen WebServer?

Currently we have the protocol working in WebServer but not much luck with our Flex chat client stability.

Hoping to get a JS styled client (re: bayeux protocol demonstrated at OSD 08) up and running. Our main hope is that we can push messages to connected users in Jobtask, so maybe a WebServer wide feature able to be let loose into the wild could be in order...

Let me know, need hands, interest in Pike/Javascript/protocol implementation etc.

A chat might be nice for demonstration purposes.

However, growing up during the early days of the internet, there was a lot of talk about different types of chat applications. Swedish so called newspapers all had their own chats, this has rendered me a bit sceptical to all that is Chat in it's most pure form and left me scarred for life. :)

I will try to set my own issues aside and see if we can come up with a chat when the 5.0 is released.

Hey,

It's likely perceived as a spontaneous groupware concept, but certainly a tool where users can be working simultaneously on a project remotely.
In a secured session even.

All food for thought.

The early days of the internet as we know it today. Arpanet is not what I was refering to. Don't forget, Al Gore invented the internet in the late nineties! http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/35/Phoc96v1.jpg

Matt:
It looks like an interesting project, is there a demo available?
